Usage and WhatsApp fees

The studio pays WhatsApp directly, through the payment method in its WhatsApp Manager. RocketLead charges nothing for WhatsApp messages and never sees the studio’s WhatsApp invoice.

Settings → WhatsApp shows, per number and for the current month:

  • Antworten: n / 1.000 kostenlos: free-form replies inside the 24-hour window that WhatsApp delivered for free.
  • Über RocketLead gesendet: messages sent through RocketLead (inbox, requests, automations, API), by WhatsApp’s category: Antworten, Benachrichtigungen (utility templates), Marketing, Bestätigungscodes.
  • Eingegangen: every message people sent to the number, wherever it was answered.

Messages written in the WhatsApp Business app are not counted as sent. They stay free.

The month starts at midnight German time.

Each number gets 1,000 free replies per month from WhatsApp. From the 1,001st, WhatsApp charges each reply. Once that happens, the settings say so and the composer adds a short note next to the 24-hour window: Antwort kostet eine WhatsApp-Gebühr.

Without a payment method, WhatsApp stops delivering replies once the free ones are used up. RocketLead then shows the missing payment method to admins, see Keeping the connection.

Templates are charged from the first message, by category and by the recipient’s country. What WhatsApp actually charges is in the WhatsApp Manager.

WhatsApp limits how many people a business may message first, per 24 hours. The limit applies to the whole business portfolio, across all its numbers. New portfolios start at 250 people; WhatsApp raises it as the studio sends messages people want. Replies to people who wrote first don’t count. Settings → WhatsApp shows the current limit per account.

WhatsApp also rates each number’s quality from how recipients react. Settings shows it next to the number when it is medium or low.

When WhatsApp holds something against a number, admins see it in Settings and across the console:

  • The number may send nothing for now, usually after many blocks or reports. Automations send nothing until a message goes out again.
  • The account may not start conversations until a date WhatsApp sets. Replies keep going; automations send no templates until then.
  • Low quality: automations pause marketing messages, so WhatsApp doesn’t restrict the number. Other messages keep going.

Automations don’t retry a message WhatsApp refused for these reasons. What to do about them is in the WhatsApp Manager.
